Circle Painting

May 2022

Circle painting was founded by Hiep and Tammy Nguyen as a way to promote mental health, community building, collaboration, and accessible art for all. Benefits include: less stress and/or fear of art-making, social engagement, and making friends.

Each class made 3-4 paintings and each student contributed equally. Each table used two colors. Throughout the class period, the paintings were rotated around the room on a regular basis. The students received open-ended directions that they could creatively interpret and implement.

The circles represent the students’ friendships at Kenwood. The lines and shapes represent the connections they have with each other. The colors represent the individual uniqueness each of them brings to school.
